CHIO was established in March 2011 to help everyone in the College of Humanities to become a competent and broad-minded member of the global community and to support the education and research of the College Humanities in meeting world- class standards.

For students, CHIO currently offers various programs designed to help improve proficiency in foreign languages and prepare for studying abroad. There are also programs specifically developed for international students so as to assist them in adjusting to campus life at SNU. CHIO promises to provide the students of the College of Humanities with programs that support their efforts to become global-citizens.

For the faculty of the College of Humanities, CHIO has Research Support and Programs for International Faculty. By improving current programs and developing new programs, CHIO will continue to further the mission of the College of Humanities to build better educational and research environments.
